Asian Scene- Sur Kshetra’s Diljaan Performs in Nairobi, 22nd July- The Star

After a long time, there came an artist who is talented in the Punjabi language and has a powerful voice. Meet Diljaan Singh who caught fame when he participated in the Indian singing talent show Sur Kshetra and has won audiences worldwide due to his unique voice which brings back to life the songs which are full of poetry. The musical evening on Saturday 19th July at the Sikh Union Club was started by a very talented flute player, Bhupinder Singh who mesmerized the audience with song after song using nearly 18 different flutes. Diljaan received a great introduction by Parveen Adam who had been invited by the late Sohan Singh Josh’s family. Mr Sohan Singh Josh was Kenya’s renowned poet and his words will be remembered for a long time. He had once expressed his concern for the fading use of Punjabi language to Parveen Adam, and so you can call the musical evening a tribute to him.
