Vaisakhi is considered the new year for the Sikh community. This year the Sikh Temple Pangani introduced new ideas for the Vaisakhi celebrations on Sunday 13th April 2014. This included freshly made sugar cane juice, trampoline and bouncy castle for the kids, ice cream cake and milkshake lunch. In addition they gave orange scarves which were part of the old flag material. Over 300 years ago when the sikh religion was established the flag represented their temple. The public came in large numbers and cheered as the flag was hoisted and colourful balloons released into the air.
