Asian Scene- National Prayers at KICC, 8th October- The Star

08 Oct

While an attack brings chaos, it also brings people closer than before. One of the biggest and National prayers ceremonies for the Westgate attack victims took place at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre on Tuesday 1st October. The President Uhuru Kenyatta and his wife Margaret Kenyatta, the Deputy Vice President William Ruto and the Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero among other top Government and dignitaries, graced this national inter-religious prayer service. The message was that of unity, peace and love from the opening prayers to the all the speeches made by the invited guests such as Hindu Council of Kenya, SUPKEM, NCCK and more. The only way to sum up the sentiments of this unique session is the last stanza of our National Anthem which states “let all with one accord, in common bond united, build this our nation together and the glory of Kenya, the fruit of our labour, fill every heart with thanksgiving.”
