Women who are lazy at cooking need to take a lesson from the buzzing, excited and creative children who pitched up for the SunGold SunRice Junior Super Chef Competition organized by East FM at the Westgate Shopping Mall on Saturday 14th September. There were 20 teams of 3 children each between the ages of 8 to 16 years old. Some teams were from the schools such as Premier Academy or Arya Primary and there were those who came together for the simple passion of cooking. The judges chosen are Chef Shailendra Singh (Group Executive Chef to Sarova Hotels), Chef Karan Suri (Group Executive Chef to Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Kenya), Elaine Dang (General Manager at EatOut) and Mohamed Raghib was the SunGold SunRice Super Chef 3 finalist 2013. The children prepared dishes such as chicken wings, spicy tofu, fruit pudding, crepes and so much. Each team had a supervisor to assist with the cutting or use of machines to prevent injuries, and these were the East FM presenters. Round two will be on 21st September and all families are encouraged to come and see these passionate children battling it out with pots, pans and their sheer determination to cook.
