21 Aug

The Shree Cutchi Gujarati Hindu Union’s Shiva Temple located on Ronald Ngala Street is 106 years old. This historic building will remain while the community has opened a larger one Lord Shiva Temple along Eldama Ravine Road in Westlands and it was inaugurated on Sunday 18th August. The most symbolic thing about the temple are the two elephant statues at the doorsteps and the temple is set in white marble and carvings with statues of the various Gods such as Shiva, Ram and more made from India. The great priest, who is considered the highest in their community just like a Pope, Swami Satyamitranand, graced the ceremony. There were prayers held and thereafter a lecture by his Excellency Swami and a magazine distributed to commemorate the journey so far of the community
