There were many big announcements at the SunGold SunRice Super Chef Season 3 on Saturday 6th July at the Village Market and a new winner, Ashwinder Sokhi from Kisumu. Jasmine Postwalla, Head of Operations of East FM announced that there will be a Junior Super Chef Challenge in September, while Bidco Oil Refineries Ltd Marketing Manager Mitul Shah announced that this Super Chef Season 3 was the highest rated amongst all radio stations, SunRice’s Mital Shah was very delighted and finally the CEO of Radio Africa Group Mr Patrick Quarcoo promised that East FM will have its own frequency in Kisumu by the end of 2013 and next year this show will be shown on Kiss TV.
Wow, wow, wow was the audience, sponsors and shoppers going ga ga over this news after watching the time testing, sweat grueling and full of surprises finals for the three contestants, Tanay Saxena from Nairobi, Ashwinder Sokhi from Kisumu and Mohamed Raghib from Mombasa. They were allowed only one stop to the pantry and when they started cooking, fifteen minutes into it, they were told to swop their cooking stations and then after another fifteen minutes they returned to their own. This twist caused a lot of stress, confusion and tested their talent to the maximum. In the end Tanay lost points on achieving a great tasting meal, while Mohamed ran into trouble by accidentally flipping the hot frying pan onto himself, luckily he was not injured but he couldn’t make his desert. Thus, Ashwinder Sokhi remained calm and even though her starter prawn cocktail was flat, it was her entire work that gave her the winning cheque of 200,000shillings.
