Before you drink another cup of tea think about how else you would like to have your tea? This was the surprise ingredient in the SunGold SunRice Super Chef Season 3 Top 8 Round on Saturday 15th June at the Corner Affair Bistro.
The contestants were paired up randomly by selecting a chit and then got off to cooking a theme-based meal such as African, Continental, Thai and Chinese. It was like getting into a dark kitchen and all you have are sharp knives and determination. The complete meal needed a starter, main dish, dips and desert. The real test was also the chef’s knowledge of meals around the world and the correct ingredients and dishes to make. There was innovation when Neeta Mehta and Mohamed Raghib made apple jalebis, put pineapple in stir-fried vegetables, or when Tahra Khan and Komal Cheddha dared to bake a Shepherd’s Pie. The next round was made up of a secret basket containing a photo of a completed meal that needed to be made exactly like that. Now it is over to the Top 6 to battle it out at the Semi-Finals, which will be held at the Village Market on 29th June and don’t miss it.
