The Gurudwara has a school known as the Gurmat School where the primary objective is to educate the Sikh students on Sikh religion, language, history and prayer. 13-year-old Daljeet Kaur addressed the audience nervously on the various Sikh symbols, their origination and meaning. While Jasveen Kaur narrated how the Sikh symbols came into being through the creation of the religion over 300 years. A full afternoon of drawing and painting seemed to have left the children exhausted and inattentive and parents indifferent to keeping them silent during the speeches until it was time for the prize giving. Luckily one of their inspirations Ms. Sonia Birdee the MP for URP had been invited to be an example to the young Sikhs and she included in her short speech “parents give your children to follow their dreams and support them in the right direction”. According to the judges all the 120 children who participated were winners, simply for their efforts and all received certificate of appreciation.
