Cradled in a little beautiful cot at the centre of the hall is the baby idol, Lord Mahavir considered the incarnation of God or “tirthankara” at the Navnat Bhavan, General Mathenge on Saturday 27th April.
The Shree Chandana Vidyapeeth of Young Jains celebrated Shree Mahavir Janma Kalyanak with dance and music. The Young Jains played a major role in the celebration because they presented a short musical drama on the life of Lord Mahavir and then danced the traditional Garba and Dandia. Children are at the centre of this great person’s celebration because he provides the values embedded in Jainism, that of right faith, right knowledge and right conduct.
Mothers were anxious to see their young ones perform and fathers were excited to capture them on camera. Despite the relentless rain, the attendance was fair and conjured up a colorful evening.
