It can be called the day of reckoning but for now stands for a day when good wins over evil in this month of Diwali’s festivities. This is the day of Dushera, celebrated on 24th October at the SSD Temple Nairobi. On a cold afternoon it could not have been more perfect than to enjoy the delicacies of the festival, the famous jalebis which are orange, crunchy and yummy sweets. There was an overwhelming number of stalls selling various Indian food from Paneer Dishes to the popular Chole Batura.
The public was kind and brave to battle the heavy downpour and turn out in large numbers wearing their sweats and carrying umbrellas. Where there is a will there is a way and the burning of the Ravan effigy was punctual as the actors dressed as Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman drove in to hit the burning arrow.
