Asian Scene 23rd October- Yogathon at Faraja Centre, Sign Up

23 Oct

It is no longer a legend, myth or unusual form of exercise but rather a necessity in these busy and stressful days of our lives. Yoga originated in ancient India and is now every part of the world including Kenya. The Faraja Cancer Support Trust is holding a Yogathon Challenge on the 3rd November from 10am to 4pm at Cancer Care Centre, Shivachi Road, Parklands near M.P. Shah Hospital, which will consist of different Yoga teachers who will teach the different styles of yoga – for general well being. According to their Yoga Therapist Komal Shah, “the aim of the event is to create awareness of yoga and its benefits on cancer patients. Therapeutic yoga plays an immense role in accelerating the supply of oxygen, providing deep rest to the cells of the body and improving sleep, which is vital for every cancer patient. Research also shows that yogic breathing and relaxation techniques works well during chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and also during moments of pain.”
